I went to this school for over seven months. Although I had minor drug problems, the choice to go to this “school” was a joint decision that both my mom and I made. We were lied to continuously, over the phone and once we got to AIR. I went outside less than five times the entire time I was there. I watched desperate and suicidal girls thrown in isolation instead of receive the therapy and treatment they needed.
What a horrible place.

i jus wanna kno, do u even give diplomas, or are they fake? to me you are liars and my loved one that is there does not belong there. And if you think by isolating him from his family is the best thing how the hell would you know. Being relayed messages from him through email? how do i even know it is him, bc im sure its not. they’re are a bunch of brainwashers.

I went to this program back in 2004 wen i was 13 it was the worst experience ive ever had away from home it made me even more depress the way they run the school is not even worth the money you dont learn anything from it i got taken out after there was a brake out in the middle of the night on the boys side of the dorm and then the next day they had “Fun Day” where we didnt have to wear our uniforms which was always so it was like they were covering up for it but thank god i left a week later because i honestly thing that they tell the parents one thing wen we the kids are doing another we only got 5 mins to talk a day and thats only if u sign your name on the waiting list omg thinking about it just makes me sick even the guy who owns it wen i got discharged to my mom he doesnt agree with sum of the stuff they do its just not a place a parent would wanna send there kid if they want them to get better under realistic circumstances because the only way out is through seminars and its all fake and i didnt agree with it so i go sent to study hall because i couldnt find my “magical child” i just thought it was realli fake and everyone just went along with it because obviously they wanna be out i was ther for 7 months and i was only a level 2! and even then i would drop down to a level 1 sumtimes because of the crazy list of corrections they have im just get angry talkin about it but the 7months didnt help i ended up getting put in a diff program later on wen i messed up at 15 and that was a really good one at first of course everyones gonna hate it but the staff are amazing they act like ur on the same level not a troubled juvenile and the average stay is a yr which goes by fast and its really easy to become a graduate and the guys and girls are able to interact wen we are having PE or having our group meetings…i think the one thing that makes ivy ridge a is they isolate everyone theres never any talking ever and the only time u can talk is if we are in our group with our family representative who records everything! and its just one person says whatever like about what she did bak at home and then you can give feedback but thats the only communication there is and when i got home i became more shy more reserved and scared to do anything, but i got my stuff together but no one really knows what a place is like till they actually are there with everyone else…its an expensive school with very unrealistic goals set for kids 12-17 to be reaching unless u fake it the whole way which some do but alot of kids have been there for a year and more u dont get out till you are a upper level by completing like 5 seminars i dont even know anymore Orientation, Discovery, Foucus idk and they make the familys go throught it took but see what they do and what we do are completly different and my mom would tell me that she had so much fun and how she wa already in foucs and i hadnt even gotten into Discovery and parents dont know they think its the same for us as it would be for them i just feel really lucky that my family saw what was going on and didnt just leave me you win some and you lose some but if you like bootcamp realli intense strict school its for you but i dont think thats gonna make any kid talk to anyone or fallow through with the program i never wanted to do anything i was really sad i honestly thought i was gonna be there a long time, but if your gonna send your kids to any trouble teen facility make sure u check it out and read reviews, talk to other familys who have sent away there kids and go with there recommendations because the kids know whats up and i honestly tell people Turning Winds is a really amazing place if u have to send your child away but there should be alot of researching before just turning your child to someone you dont even know because then it cost alot of money to pull them out if its earlier then the time they were originally suppose to be released so i hope this helps and ivy ridge could be a nice school they just need to change alot of stuff that they think is working before word gets around and theres no one wanting to pay for there kids to go there anymore its the truth
